PoliteTalk is a
messing-about.com company. Like messing-about.com, PoliteTalk is intended to be a friendly
community of people on the Internet. The difference is that PoliteTalk is
intended to provide a place where politics and religion can be discussed ...
in a friendly manner.
OK, quit laughing. It could happen, you know.
The genesis of PoliteTalk was my lament in my blog about the demise of polite political discourse, or, why mean people suck. It was in reaction to a forum I had to leave as the invective and mean spiritedness simply took over. Direct personal attacks took the place of wit, and guilt by association took the place of rational conclusions.
So this is the grand experiment. It may not attract a following, but we'll try it for a few months. If enough people join here, and take part in spirited but polite debate, then the site will remain.
